Hans Helgesen’s 2025 Gradual Entry Schedule for Kindergarten
Kindergarten children will begin full days of school on Wednesday, September 10th. Our school hours are as follows:
- First Bell – 8:30 am (Kindergarten children are met by teachers outside the front entrance of the school. The day begins with attendance and outdoor play)
- 10:05 – 10:20 am Recess
- 11:38 – 12:05 pm Lunch eating in classrooms
- 12:05 – 12:38 pm Outside play time
- 2:38 pm Dismissal (Parents meet children at the side exit of the school for pick up)
The Kindergarten school supply list below. This year at Hans Helgesen, we were able to support the bulk purchase of some additional school supplies through a one -time funding opportunity. Supplies do not need to be labelled, as they are shared. Supplies will not be needed for the first few days of Kindergarten.
At the end of August, you will receive a short questionnaire to help us to learn more about your child in preparation for their arrival at school. Thank you in advance for taking the time to share some helpful information with us. We want your child to feel happy, safe, and supported as they start their exciting journey into school.

Headphones:
Throughout the year, students will be given opportunities to do some learning on iPads. Along with the attached school supplies list, please also send in a set of over the ear headphones with an auxiliary cord (please no bluetooth or in ear headphones). The headphones should be labeled with your child’s name and put into a large Ziploc bag (also with your child’s name).
Your first days at school will be:
- Friday, September 5th 1:30 – 2:30 pm
- Monday, September 8th 8:30 – 11:30 am
- Tuesday, September 9th 12:30 – 2:30 pm
*Children will be met by teachers outside the school entrance in the morning and met by families at the side exit in the afternoon. Limited parent parking is available in the lower lot.
2025/26 Registration
French Immersion & Nature Kindergarten: January 13-17, 2025. Registration opens at 8:00 a.m. on January 13th and closes at 3:00 p.m. on January 17th.
Regular Kindergarten: January 29-February 5, 2025. Registration opens at 8:00 a.m. on January 27 and closes at 3:00 p.m. on February 5th. A lottery will take place for schools that have more registrations than seats. You can still register for kindergarten after this time period, your child(ren) will be placed at a school will available kindergarten seats after the lottery has been completed.

Uploading Documents: Don’t have a scanner? Please provide CLEAR photos of the documents. If the document cannot be read clearly, it will not be accepted.
